Is Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par a frame-by-frame copy of Hollywood film champions? Fans think so

Aamir Khan’s new film story of a coach who is given the job of mentoring intellectually challenged athletes. The film marks the actor’s comeback to films after Laal Sigh Chaddha.

The trailer of Aamir Khan’s upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par, was released on May 13 and fans have a lot to say about it. Directed by R. S. Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par is a ‘spiritual sequel’ to Aamir Khan’s 2007 film Taare Zameen Par.

Fan reactions to Sitaare Zameen Par

The initial reaction to the film was impressive; however, some fans went deeper and found the film has frame-to-frame similarities with Champions, a Hollywood movie that is the remake of a Spanish film Campeones. The story of Sitaare Zameen Par exactly matches Champions, which prompted extreme backlash to the film and became material for memes.

A new thread has started to circulate on Reddit that shows a side-by-side comparison of the two films.

Someone took the comment section and wrote, “After the Forrest Gump fiasco, he should have stayed away from remakes or adaptations.”

Another comment read, “Perfectionist in copying the film frame by frame,” while someone else remarked, “Luckily Champions is less popular than Forest Gump, so fewer people may care. But still not a good look.”

Another user pointed out that the film has exact similarities with the original one, as it had imitated small details like the tubelight falling scene and other such details were similar to the original movie.

The R. S. Prasanna directorial casts ten debutants in the role of students. Some of the newcomers include Aroush Datta, Vedant Sharma, Gopi Krishnan Verma, Ayush Bhansali, and Samvit Desai. Alongside these newcomers, the film also stars Genelia Deshmukh in a prominent role.
