Wealth and fame are not success: Premanand Maharaj advises Virat Kohli to do this to feel happy after test retirement

A day after announcing his retirement from Test cricket, Virat Kohli and his wife, actress Anushka Sharma, visited Shri Radha Kel Kunj Ashram in Vrindavan to seek blessings and spiritual guidance from Premanand Maharaj. The couple arrived at the ashram on Tuesday in a white car. During the visit, they listened to Maharaj’s teachings on religion and spirituality. Bhajan Marg posted a video on social media showing the couple interacting with Premanand Maharaj.

In the video, Kohli and Anushka can be seen bowing before Premanand Maharaj and receiving his blessings. They later knelt before him with folded hands. Maharaj asked them if they were happy. When they said yes, he responded that it should remain that way.

He then spoke about the temporary nature of material pleasures. He explained when divine grace can be understood and how it changes a person's life.

Maharaj said, "When Prabhu (God) blesses someone, getting wealth is not grace, it is merit... Increase in wealth, increase in fame is not considered God's grace. God's grace is considered the change in inner thoughts, due to which the deeds of your infinite births are destroyed and the next one will be very good. We have become extroverted by nature. We find happiness in external things like fame, glory, profit, victory. Very few people care about the inner self."

He continued, "When God bestows grace, He provides the company of saints. The second grace He gives is adversity. Then He gives a path from within. This is my path. This is the path of ultimate peace. This is not the path of peace. God gives that path... Without adversity, the attachment to the world is not destroyed. Anyone who attains detachment does so by seeing the adversity of the world."

Adversity is good

Maharaj added, "If everything is in our favor, we enjoy it happily, and when adversity comes upon us, we feel hurt that the world is so false. Therefore, God gives a path from within, God says that this is right. God has not kept any medicine to free us from this world without adversity. To date, all the great men whose lives have changed have changed by seeing adversity. Whenever adversity comes, be happy at that time that God's grace is now upon me."

Final guidance to the couple

He advised, "Remain completely worldly, but let your inner thoughts change. In your inner thoughts, there should be no feeling of fame, in your inner thoughts, there should be no feeling of increasing wealth, let the inner thought be that Lord, many births have passed, now I want to meet you once. Lord, I want you, not the world now. Things will work out. So, things will work out. Therefore, chant the name of God joyfully, do not worry at all."

Anushka asked, "Will it happen by chanting the name?" To this, Maharaj replied, "Completely, I am telling you from my life experience... Keep chanting the name, you will attain God in this birth. There is no doubt in this."
