Jammu & Kashmir Opposition slams Farooq Abdullah after former RAW chief's claims

Opposition parties in J&K slammed Farooq Abdullah saying he had betrayed the people, following former Research & Analysis Wing (RAW) chief AS Dulat's claim in his latest book that the National Conference president privately backed BJP's move to abrogate Article 370 of the Constitution in 2019.

Dulat quoted Abdullah in his book 'The CM and the Spy' saying, "We would have helped, why were we not taken into confidence." He also claimed Abdullah seriously contemplated an alliance with BJP following Article 370 abrogation.

People's Conference leader Sajad Lone said the claim that Abdullah had supported abrogation of Article 370 privately was very credible. "Dulat sahib is the closest ally of and friend of Farooq sahib. Virtually his alter ego... Of course, NC will deny it, call it yet another conspiracy against NC. They have perfected playing the victim card," said Lone. PDP MLA Waheed Para said Dulat's revelation had ripped off the last remaining mask. "National Conference... in truth... were complicit - quiet facilitators of our disempowerment... the truth is harsh but undeniable," said Para.


Abdullah, however, said in his defence that Dulat's book was full of many inaccuracies. "It is unfortunate... if he really considers me a friend then he wouldn't have written such things."
