Third Eye: Business of word play, happy about screen time, and twists and turns around L2: Empuraan

Business of word play- Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Thursday spoke about the government's attempt to revive BSNL. After he completed his reply during question hour in the Rajya Sabha, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar said that BSNL now means 'Bhai Sahab Nishchit Lagega' while in the past people used to criticise BSNL for poor connection by mocking it as 'Bhai Sahab Nahi Lagega'.

Happy about screen time- Sansad TV’s decision to show the presiding officer and the MP speaking at the moment in a split frame on the screen has made panellists chairing the proceedings happy. While the initial reaction was that this has been done to give more footage to the Rajya Sabha Chairman and the Lok Sabha Speaker, the panellists are delighted as they get more visibility in the few minutes that they get to preside over the proceedings. People from their constituency and the state concerned see the panellists almost throughout the period they chair the proceedings.

Twists and turns around L2: Empuraan- When Mohanlal-starrer ‘L2: Empuraan’ released to mega bookings, Kerala’s Congress and Left circles praised movie makers for their ‘bold’ creative theme plotted around Gujarat riots. State BJP leaders, who initially appeared gamely about the film by saying ‘movie is not history’, took a step back after Hindutva gallery attacked the movie. As producers agreed to ‘24 cuts’ in fresh censoring, the Left-Congress circles alleged that makers succumbed to saffron pressure, even as BJP leaders argued it was acase of self-correction by the movie makers. The political twists and turns seem to be matching the movie’s theme
