Buzz over meeting: A gathering of Union ministers in Parliament building created a lot of buzz as all the names speculated to be the next BJP chief attended the meeting held in Manohar Lal's chamber. Dharmendra Pradhan, Bhupender Yadav, Kishan Reddy, Pralhad Joshi were among the attendees. Union ministers Piyush Goyal and L Murugan were also present, but they are most probably not in the race to become the next BJP chief. The agenda was, however, more official.

‘Sorry state’ of bail affairs:
The Supreme Court was dismayed at trial courts denying bails to the accused, especially in cases where charge sheets have been filed. “It is unfortunate that the Supreme Court has to spend time in deciding bails where charge sheet has been filed. It is very shocking and a sorry state of affairs. Until 20 years ago such matters never came to the Supreme Court,” a bench headed by justice AS Oka verbally remarked on Monday. Observing that “accused cannot be kept behind the bars in perpetuity”, the bench went on to grant bail to the accused.

Landing in destination: Congress Rajya Sabha member Pramod Tiwari raised an important issue bothering people across the country. During Monday’s Question Hour, he raised the issue of skyrocketing air charges. When the Chair pointed out that this issue is not part of the starred question, Tiwari said since he is talking about flights, it is bound to overshoot a bit. He said this is an urgent issue.
