Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday nominated 10 prominent figures from various fields, including Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, businessman Anand Mahindra, and actor Mohanlal, to help combat obesity. This move came a day after he urged people to take steps to reduce oil consumption and tackle the growing health issue.

In a post on X, Modi said, “I would like to nominate the following people to help strengthen the fight against obesity and spread awareness on reducing edible oil consumption in food. I also request them to nominate 10 people each so that our movement gets bigger.”

The other nominated personalities include Bhojpuri singer-actor Nirahua, shooting champion Manu Bhaker, weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani, actor R Madhavan, singer Shreya Ghoshal, and philanthropist Sudha Murty.

In his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address on Sunday, PM Modi had strongly advocated for reducing oil intake and encouraged people to challenge 10 others to reduce their oil consumption by 10 percent.
