Superstar Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan are two titans of the Indian film industry and their contributions to the cinema have been immense. However, instead of considering one as a competition, the Jailer actor once shared how Amitabh Bachchan is a great inspiration for him. He further added that the Pink actor, with whom he is in constant touch, once gave him advice that he follows now.

In an interview with Doordarshan ahead of receiving the IFFI Golden Jubilee Icon Award in 2019, Rajinikanth opened up about his bond with the Kalki 2898 AD actor. One of the key takeaways from the friendship has been the importance of staying active and true to oneself, a principle Rajinikanth has upheld both on and off screen. He recalled Amitabh Bachchan telling him to “keep himself busy”. He further added that it is very important especially when one is 50 or above. He further credited the octogenarian for advising him to do what he (Rajinikanth) liked without bothering about what would others say.

Some time back, Amitabh Bachchan shared his admiration for Rajinikanth, reflecting on their enduring camaraderie and mutual respect. Sharing moments from their reunion, Bachchan expressed his delight at working alongside the Tamil superstar once again. He highlighted Rajinikanth’s unwavering humility and simplicity, qualities that have remained constant despite his towering fame and legendary status in Indian cinema. In one of the shared images, the two icons were seen embracing warmly, symbolizing the deep bond they share.

Vettaiyan marked the reunion of Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan on the silver screen after many decades. Directed by TJ Gnanavel, the film also starred Rana Daggubati, Fahadh Faasil, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, and Manju Warrier. The duo has previously worked together in two action dramas- the 1991 film Hum and Andha Kanoon in 1983.

Rajinikanth is gearing up for Coolie, a highly anticipated film directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The movie features a star-studded ensemble cast, including Nagarjuna, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, and Soubin Shahir. Following Coolie, Rajinikanth is expected to begin production on Jailer 2, the much-awaited sequel to the blockbuster Jailer. Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan will be seen opposite Deepika Padukone in the Hindi remake of the Hollywood film, The Intern.
