Indian Grandmaster D Gukesh made history on Thursday by becoming the youngest world chess champion at just 18 years old. In a gripping final showdown, Gukesh defeated reigning champion Ding Liren of China in the 14th and deciding game to clinch the title. The match kept chess fans worldwide on edge, with Gukesh securing 7.5 points to Liren’s 6.5 after a dramatic victory in the final classical time control game. D Gukesh and Rajinikanth connection

D Gukesh charted history on December 12, which coincides with superstar Rajinikanth’s birthday. His other connection is that his father is named Dr Rajinikanth. The world champion’s father is an ENT surgeon, who at one point had to step back from his career to support Gukesh and help him succeed.

Gukesh’s victory marks a significant milestone as he becomes only the second Indian to win the world chess title. He follows in the footsteps of legendary Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand, who held the title five times, with his last reign ending in 2013 after losing to Magnus Carlsen.
