Ambanis, Godrejs never shamed Indians like Adani: Subramanian Swamy

Former MP and Minister of Law and Justice Subramanian Swamy criticised Gautam Adani in a recent post on X, calling him a "Trapeez Artist" and urging patriotic Indians to recognize the gravity of his controversial dealings. He contrasted Indian business moguls, like the Ambanis and Godrejs, who, unlike Adani have not brought disgrace to the country.

Swamy said, "We patriotic Indians must recognise after the Trapeez Artist Adani landed in US hands and prima facie disgraced, that the Ambanis, Godrejs, many other Indian plutocrats have never shamed Indians as Adani has by cutting corners recklessly despite all the socialist barrage."



On November 20, 2024, the United States Department of Justice and the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) issued an indictment and a civil complaint, respectively, in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, against Gautam Adani, Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, key functionaries of Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL).

The charges relate to allegations of securities fraud, wire fraud and violation of the SEC guidelines that led to materially false and misleading statements in the bond offering documents of AGEL with respect to anti-bribery and anti-corruption policies.

The Parliament is also facing repeated adjournments due to vociferous protests by Opposition members over the Adani controversy.
