Savitri Jindal tops again, Biological E's Mahima Datla joins Forbes' rich list; Here are top nine richest women

With India's wealthiest worth $1.1 trillion, more than twice as rich as they were in 2019, total of nine women have made it to Forbes' rich list 2024, up from eight a year ago.

Savitri Jindal retained the title of India's richest woman and third wealthiest in the country.

"Savitri Jindal, matriarch of steel-to-power conglomerate O.P. Jindal Group, moved up one spot to No. 3 for the first time with $43.7 billion, up $19.7 billion from last year. Her son Sajjan Jindal recently made an ambitious foray into electric vehicles with MG Motor," said the press release.


A newcomer to the list is Mahima Datla at 100th position with networth of $3.3 billion who controls vaccine producer Biological E. The rising star is the managing director of Biological E, a privately held vaccine producer, in which she holds a controlling stake. The Hyderabad-based company's portfolio includes Corbevax, a Covid-19 vaccine developed in partnership with Texas Children's Hospital Center for Vaccine Development and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

Overall, Mukesh Ambani, the chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries, has once again claimed the top position on Forbes’ 2024 list of India's 100 richest tycoons. His wealth increased by $27.5 billion over the past year, bringing his total net worth to $119.5 billion. This growth makes him the second-largest gainer in dollar terms this year, while also securing his rank as the 13th richest person in the world.
