Media reports suggest that if Jay Shah takes on the role of International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman, Rohan Jaitley is expected to follow as the new BCCI secretary. Jay Shah, the current Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), is likely to become the next Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Reports suggest that Shah has emerged as the leading candidate to succeed Greg Barclay in the top position. To secure his nomination, the ICC requires a proposer and a seconder. Sources indicate that England and Australia are expected to support Shah's candidacy.

Rohan Jaitley as Potential BCCI Secretary

If Jay Shah ascends to the ICC chairmanship, Rohan Jaitley, the President of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), may become the next BCCI Secretary. According to a report in the Hindi daily Dainik Bhaskar, Jaitley is currently leading the race among other candidates for the position.

ICC Nomination Process and Barclay’s Decision

The ICC requires each of its 16 current directors to submit their nominations by August 27 to be considered for the chairmanship. Greg Barclay, who is eligible for a third term, has announced his decision not to seek re-election, which opens the door for Shah's potential leadership.

Youngest ICC Chief

If elected, Shah will become the youngest-ever ICC Chairman at the age of 36. His election would also mark another significant milestone for Indian cricket, as he would follow in the footsteps of notable Indians like Jagmohan Dalmiya, Sharad Pawar, N. Srinivasan, and Shashank Manohar, who have previously held the prestigious position.

Current Roles and Influence

Jay Shah currently serves as the BCCI-appointed ICC director and chairs the ICC's Finance and Commercial Affairs sub-committee, a key body within the ICC. His leadership in these roles, along with strong backing from international cricket boards, places him in a favorable position to guide the ICC in the years ahead.

PCB Denies Report of Champions Trophy Resceduling
