Who is Sarkata in Stree 2? Meet Sunil Kumar, the 7.7-foot tall wrestler who plays the terrifying character

The movie "Stree 2," directed by Amar Kaushik, is receiving a lot of love from the audience for its horror-comedy blend and its striking antagonist, Sarkata. This supernatural character, causing havoc in the town of Chanderi, is portrayed by Sunil Kumar, also known as The Great Angaar in wrestling circles. Kumar, who stands at 7.7 feet tall, not only engages in wrestling but also serves as a constable in the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

Sunil Kumar, hailed as the Great Khali of Jammu, plays the role of the headless monster Sarkata in "Stree 2." Born on December 16, 1990, Kumar has previously participated in a WWE Tryout in 2019 and expresses aspirations to represent India in the WWE Championship. Despite his imposing stature, it’s important to note that Sarkata’s face in the film was created using CGI, while Kumar’s body shots were used for the character. According to director Amar Kaushik, the casting team discovered Kumar because of his height and physique.

"My team found Sunil Kumar and chose him for Sarkata's role mainly due to his height and physical stature," Kaushik shared with Bollywood Hungama. "While Kumar’s body shots were used for the character, Sarkata’s face was created using CGI."

Kumar’s Instagram posts feature photos with Rajkummar Rao, who plays Vicky in the movie, and Tamannaah Bhatia, who makes a special appearance as Shama. The film also stars Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana, with Varun Dhawan and Akshay Kumar making cameo appearances.

"Stree 2" has been doing exceptionally well at the box office, especially benefitting from the Raksha Bandhan holiday. According to Sacnilk, strong performances in Hindi mass markets are expected to help the film reach a nett collection of at least Rs 37 crore. Within just five days, the movie has already amassed Rs 228.45 crore nett.

The movie's first Monday is expected to be among the top five all-time highest Monday grosses, with a potential to land in the top three if the mass circuits perform as anticipated. "Stree 2" crossed the Rs 200 crore mark on Sunday, surpassing its Friday numbers.

"Kumar dedicates his time to serving the people of Jammu and Kashmir as a constable," said Kaushik, shedding light on Kumar’s other engagements. Outside his cinematic role, Kumar enjoys handball and volleyball.

The sequel to the 2018 film "Stree" has managed to captivate audiences with its blend of horror and humor, featuring a strong cast and an intriguing antagonist. As the movie continues to perform well at the box office, it stands to become one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of the year within its first week of release.

The film, featuring Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana, and special appearances by Varun Dhawan and Akshay Kumar, continues to make waves among audiences, particularly in Hindi mass markets.
