Nita Ambani, a renowned philanthropist and founder of Reliance Foundation, has been unanimously re-elected as a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) from India at the global olympic body's 142nd session in Paris.

“I am deeply honoured to be re-elected as a member of the International Olympic Committee. I would like to thank President Bach and all my colleagues in the IOC for their faith and trust in me," said Ambani on her re-election ahead of the Paris Olympics 2024, to be held from July 26 to August 11.

"This re-election is not just a personal milestone but also a recognition of India's growing influence in the global sporting arena. I share this moment of joy and pride with every Indian and look forward to continuing our efforts to strengthen the Olympic Movement in India and around the world," she added.


She was first elected as an individual member of the IOC in 2016 during the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. As the first Indian woman to join the IOC, Ambani has made significant contributions to the global body, promoting India's sporting ambitions and Olympic vision.

Ambani played a crucial role in India hosting its first IOC session in Mumbai for over 40 years, showcasing the country's ambitions to the world. India plans to bid for hosting the 2036 Olympics.

As the founder and chairperson of Reliance Foundation, she aims to empower millions of Indians through initiatives in sport, education, health, art, and culture. Reliance Foundation is driving India's sports growth, reaching over 22.9 million children and youth through its programmes.

As part of a long-term partnership with the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), Reliance Foundation is opening the first-ever India House at the Paris Olympics 2024 this summer.

India House will serve as a "home away from home" for athletes, celebrating wins and sharing India's Olympic journey with the world.
