Bharti Airtel and the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) have inked a multi-year contract, wherein the Sunil Mittal-led telco will be the network and connectivity partner to the income tax department.

Airtel will offer dual connectivity with Software Defined Networks for WAN, Secure LAN amongst other technology solutions for CBDT's Taxnet-2.0 program which aims to modernise the current system for collections, processing, monitoring and accounting of direct taxes.

No financial details of the deal were given in a release.


A formal Letter of Award was handed over to Airtel by CBDT and the Letter of Acceptance has been given by the telco. Bharti Airtel chairman Sunil Mittal and CBDT chairman Ravi Agarwal were present at the B2B deal signing event Thursday.
