Mukesh Ambani shares deep insights on Hindu Marriage at Anant and Radhika's wedding

Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant celebrated their wedding on July 12, adhering to traditional Hindu rituals. The ceremonies underscored the deep reverence for Indian customs. Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries and father of the groom, spoke about the significance of a traditional Hindu marriage, calling it “the most important sanskaar” in a person's life. He said, “Marriage connects an individual to society, duty, and spirituality.”

Mukesh Ambani invited guests to experience two days of rich Indian culture and traditions, curated by his wife, Nita Ambani. He noted, “When marriage is performed according to the Sanatana Vidhi, it acquires the divinity of celestial unions.” He emphasized that marriage is not just a bond between two individuals but a connection that brings together families and their communities.

Significance of Marriage in Indian Tradition

Mukesh Ambani highlighted the Vedic view of marriage as a duty towards humanity, stating, “Marriage is the basis of a family, which then helps form the community, society, and larger human family.” He thanked guests for sharing in the joy of Anant and Radhika's union, which he described as “the final and most auspicious ceremony of their divine union and the last wedding in our family.”


During the ceremony, Mukesh sought blessings for the couple, praying for “sukh, swasthya, samriddhi and safalta” (happiness, health, prosperity, and success) for Anant and Radhika. He invoked the Panch Tatva, the five elements of nature, to bless the couple’s union, emphasizing that their married life will be “beautiful, blissful, smooth and cultured.”

Nita Ambani on the Kanyadaan Ceremony
Nita Ambani, Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, spoke about the Kanyadaan ritual, emphasizing its emotional depth. “As a daughter, as the mother of a daughter, and also a mother-in-law, I know that no parents can ever give away their daughters. Daughters are life's biggest blessings and greatest joys,” she said. She explained that daughters are seen as manifestations of Goddess Lakshmi, bringing abundance and auspiciousness to their homes.

Nita highlighted the role of women in Hindu culture, stating, “In Hindu tradition, marriage is a solemn promise not just for this lifetime but for seven lifetimes. It's a belief that souls destined to find each other do so again and again, their love deepening with each lifetime.”

Grand Celebrations and Esteemed Guests
The wedding festivities began with a lavish ceremony on July 12, followed by a ‘Shubh Aashirvaad’ ceremony on July 13, which saw the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and distinguished religious leaders. The grand reception on July 14 was attended by prominent figures from the entertainment industry, including Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Gauri Khan, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Kim Kardashian.

Heartfelt Reception for Staff
On July 15, the Ambani family hosted a reception at the Jio World Convention Centre to honor their employees and household staff. Mukesh Ambani expressed gratitude, saying, “This is the last celebration of Anant and Radhika's wedding ceremony, but for me, this is the most important celebration.” Employees were treated as honored guests, and their contributions were warmly acknowledged.

One employee shared, “I have been with the Reliance family for the last nine years. Inviting us to such a grand event means a lot to us.” Another appreciated Nita Ambani’s efforts to bring the essence of Varanasi to the event, saying, “This is so amazing of her to personally visit Varanasi and bring India to the world and the world to India.”

Musical Extravaganza
The highlight of the evening was a mesmerizing musical concert led by legendary composer A R Rahman, featuring performances by renowned singers like Sonu Nigam, Hariharan, Udit Narayan, Sukhvinder Singh, Mohit Chauhan, Shreya Ghoshal, Neeti Mohan, and Jonita Gandhi. An employee expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “It was a dream come true moment for me to witness AR Rahman perform live. I am a huge fan of him. Really grateful to be here.”
