The grand old party disclosed its initial list of Lok Sabha candidates, featuring prominent figures like former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and Dr. Shashi Tharoor. This revelation comes almost a week after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its first list of candidates for the 2024 general elections.
The noteworthy names on the Congress candidate's first list include Rahul Gandhi from Kerala's Wayanad, Shashi Tharoor from Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram, former minister Tamardwaj Sahu from Chhattisgarh's Mahasamund, Jyotsna Mahant from Chhattisgarh, Korba DK Suresh from Bangalore Rural in Karnataka, and K Sudhakaran from Kannur in Kerala. Additionally, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal will contest from Alapuzza.
The Congress Election Committee (CEC) selected a total of 39 candidates in its first list for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Among them, 15 candidates are from the General category, while 24 candidates belong to SC, ST, OBC, and minority groups.
