‘Lal Salaam’ hits the theatres, fans hail sports drama, praise Rajinikanth’s cameo as a ‘tribute’ to superstar’s Muslim fans

‘Lal Salaam’, the first Rajinikanth-starrer of 2024 hit the theatres today. Ardent fans of ‘Thalaivar’ have started flooding X (formerly Twitter) with glowing reviews of the movie. The film also marks the directorial comeback of Aishwarya Rajinikanth, the superstar’s daughter.

Twitter Gushes About ‘Lal Salaam’

The superstar’s second daughter, Soundarya was one of the earliest to review the film. Taking to the microblogging site on February 8, she wrote, “I am so proud of you, my sister! And appa (smile emoji).... Brilliant! Lal Salaam gods are with us!” reads her post.

Sharing a still from the movie which shows the superstar sporting a skullcap and praying, a fan praised the movie for being a beacon of communal harmony. They also described that Rajinikanth’s character Moideen Bhai is a tribute to the star’s Muslim fans.


“A Tribute Film To All The Muslim Friends #Thalaivar Getup. We Won @ash_rajinikanth Akka! Social Message Was Very Well Told ..” they wrote.

Another user wrote, “Any honest attempt to unite people should never fail!”

“2nd Half #LalSalaam took the movie to a different level… They used #Thalaivar effectively and rightly. #LalSalaam good watch!” gushed another fan.

Another felt that the film was flawless. “2nd Half increased the standards. Not even a single flaw to point!” reads the post.

‘Lal Salaam’ Box-Office Report

According to the Indian box-office tracking portal Sacnilk.com, the movie is expected to earn Rs 4 crore on day 1.

About ‘Lal Salaam’

The sports drama marks Aishwarya’s return behind the cameras after a gap of seven years. It features Rajinikanth in a special cameo. Aside from Rajinikanth, the movie also stars Vishnu Vishal, Vikranth etc.
