The Congress party on Tuesday established a five-member committee to engage in discussions regarding potential alliances with other political parties for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The committee named the National Alliance Committee, will be led by senior party leader Mukul Wasnik, with other members including former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot, former Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, former union minister Salman Khurshid, and senior leader Mohan Prakash.

"In the run-up to the general election 2024, the Congress president has constituted a National Alliance Committee with immediate effect," the party said in a statement.

The committee is tasked with examining various aspects of forming alliances with other political entities in the lead-up to the 2024 general elections, said PTI citing party sources.
