Actress Gayatri Joshi's husband Vikas Oberoi under probe following car collision in Italy that killed elderly couple: Report

Former Bollywood actress Gayatri Joshi's husband, Vikas Oberoi, is reportedly under investigation following a fatal collision involving two high-speed supercars, a Lamborghini and a Ferrari.

According to ETimes, the incident took place on 195 Sulcitana State Road in the commune of San Giovanni Suergiu in South Sardinia, Italy. Joshi, renowned for her role in the 2004 film 'Swades', and Oberoi were in the midst of a holiday when the incident occurred.

The crash claimed the lives of an elderly Swiss couple, Markus Krautli and Melissa Krautli. Oberoi, driving the blue Lamborghini Huracan, was attempting to overtake a camper van on a narrow highway when a Ferrari attempted to pass both vehicles and the crash happened.


The collision resulted in the camper van overturning and catching fire, tragically claiming the lives of the Swiss couple.

ETimes has reported that authorities in Italy have launched an inquiry into the incident, calling it a 'double road homicide.' This development means that if legal charges are filed against Oberoi and he is proven guilty, he might face a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.

Despite the intensity of the accident, Oberoi and his wife miraculously emerged unharmed. Joshi expressed gratitude, stating to Free Press Journal, “Vikas and I are in Italy. We met with an accident here (multiple-car collision).. With God’s grace, we both are absolutely fine.”

One of the clips, captured by a car trailing Oberoi’s Lamborghini, revealed the chilling moment of the collision.


Joshi, a former Miss India, ventured into acting after winning the beauty pageant in 2000 and gained prominence through her role in 'Swades'. She married Oberoi in 2005, and the couple has two sons, Vihaan Oberoi and Yuvaan. Oberoi, a prominent figure as the chairman and managing director of Oberoi Realty Ltd, an esteemed real estate company known for its high-end suburban condominiums, is now facing intense scrutiny.
