The Bengaluru-headquartered biotech major is investing Rs 788 crore to expand its facility at Genome Valley. The project, minister Rao said, would add about 1000 jobs.
The R&D campus in Genome Valley, he added, has grown four times and now employed more than 900 scientists.
“Genome Valley is regarded as the epicentre for drug discovery and development services in Asia, and Syngene's expansion has further solidified Hyderabad's status as a hub for R&D in India,” the minister said, while thanking the company founder Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw for staying committed to her company’s growth story in Hyderabad.
"It is indeed a matter of pride for all of us that the city of Hyderabad today serves more than 1000 innovators globally in their innovation journey through companies like Syngene and many others who have made Hyderabad their hub for R&D. They benefit from the extraordinary talent pool focused on chemistry, biology, genetics, and technology that our city offers,” he said.
Shaw, in her response, thanked the minister, and said his visionary leadership had led to a world-class ecosystem for life sciences.
