Telegram introduces new "Stories" feature exclusively for premium users

Telegram, the renowned messaging platform, has taken a stride into the world of ephemeral content with the launch of its intriguing "Stories" feature, exclusively catering to its Premium subscribers. CEO Pavel Durov's announcement of the feature last month has created a buzz, and its official rollout to premium users in July has been met with great excitement.

Drawing inspiration from Stories on popular platforms like Instagram and Snapchat, Telegram Stories showcases a plethora of unique features that set it apart from the competition. One striking element is the flexibility it offers in the duration of the Stories' visibility. Unlike most other apps, which make Stories disappear after 24 hours, Telegram users can now opt for their stories to vanish after 6, 12, 24, or even 48 hours, granting them enhanced control over their content's lifespan.

Privacy-conscious users will also find solace in the level of control Telegram Stories provides. The feature allows users to fine-tune their audience by choosing to share their stories with everyone, a select group of contacts, a specific set of contacts (with exceptions), or even a handpicked list of close friends, ensuring their content reaches precisely the intended recipients.




To embark on this new storytelling journey, users must ensure they have the latest version of Telegram. Once updated, a new "Stories" tab adorns the top of the chat list, providing easy access to view Stories shared by contacts and groups.

Sharing their own Stories becomes a seamless process for premium subscribers. A "+" button awaits in the top-right corner of the "Stories" tab, beckoning users to unleash their creativity. They can effortlessly add captivating photos and videos from their camera roll or generate fresh content through on-the-spot capture. Upon completion, a simple tap on the "Post" button propels their Story to the chosen audience, ready to be admired and enjoyed.

Telegram's innovation goes beyond the conventional as it includes a Video Messages option, empowering users to record Stories using both the front and rear cameras of their devices. Moreover, they can enrich their Stories by sharing links and tagging fellow users, fostering a more engaging and interconnected experience.

Notably, the "Stories" feature, as of now, remains exclusive to premium subscribers. While non-premium users can view the captivating Stories created by premium subscribers, they are currently unable to craft and publish their own. The uncertainty about whether this feature will eventually be made accessible to all users lingers in the air, but for the time being, it remains a premium perk.
