'You make a great ambassador.' Biocon boss Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw heaps praise on Grammy-winning composer Ricky Kej following UN honour

Businesswoman Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw has always been a cheerleader for three-time Grammy Award-winning music composer Ricky Kej.

Recently, the Biocon Executive Chairperson congratulated the 41-year-old composer on being awarded the UN Goodwill Ambassador plaque last month.

In her post, she wrote, "Kej - you make a great ambassador."



Kej too dropped a sweet reply to Mazumdar-Shaw. He tweeted, "Thanks a million zillion! You are the best."

A month ago, Kej revealed that he had composed a theme song for Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw's brand in 2006 - long before he won the Grammy Award.

The US Billboard Chart No. 1 artist, who is an active environmentalist, was announced as a United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Goodwill Ambassador in December 2022. He is also a passionate advocate for sustainable development.

The UN General Assembly President Csaba Korösi honoured the composer at the UN headquarters in New York on June 16. "As an #ArtistForTheEarth, Ricky Kej's music brings lasting change for future generations," the Earth Day India post read.

India will host the 14th Conference of Parties (COP14) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).29-Aug-2019

In 2019, Kej composed the anthem 'Born from the Land' for the 14th Conference of Parties (COP14), which was hosted by India, of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). Kej performed the anthem with his co-writer and fellow Ambassador, Baaba Maal.

On World Soil Day in December 2019, the official music video by Kej was released which has now been viewed by more than 400,000 people on YouTube.

India also had a grand moment at the UN headquarters last month on International Day of Yoga (June 21) during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's three-day US trip.

Kej joined PM Modi, Hollywood actor Richard Gere, digital evangelist Vala Afshar, award-winning storyteller Jay Shetty, and chef and restaurateur Vikas Khanna at the event.

Kej thanked Modi for popularising yoga globally. He expressed his gratitude towards PM Modi and shared his new music on Twitter.
