Airtel urges Jio, Vodafone Idea, BSNL, MTNL to activate intra-circle roaming for seamless connectivity
The latest development will be in line with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP-17) for Telecommunication Services for responding to disasters.


"This will be particularly relevant, where a site is shut or where the TSP is not able to manage the up time, so that, we can collectively ensure that the services are not interrupted," Airtel said in letter to other telcos, the telecom department and Trai.
The latest development will be in line with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP-17) for Telecommunication Services for responding to Disasters, as issued by Department of Telecommunications.
Randeep Sekhon, Airtel CTO had separately told ET that Airtel was fully prepared to support any exigency as its networks starts to operate in the Business Continuity Planning (BCP) mode at a time when the demand for bandwidth surges and more people increasingly start to work from home to contain the spread of Covid-19 or coronavirus.
The telco is constant touch with its enterprise and government customers to enable smooth functioning of all essential services.
