Claude’s parent Anthropic has rolled out a new feature for its enterprise customers that gives administrators a window into how their teams use Claude, the work they produce with it and how much they spend on the AI tool.
Called Smart Reports, the feature analyses samples of team conversation transcripts and groups employees’ activities into workstreams. The reports show the deliverables produced, the spending associated with each workstream and common problems users encounter.
“Claude analyses a sample of the team’s transcripts and groups the work into workstreams,” Anthropic said in an announcement on October 28. “Smart reports surface what a team gets done with Claude, and what that work costs.”
In other words, companies can get a clearer picture of what their employees are actually doing with AI, beyond paying for their subscriptions and hoping for a productivity boost.
The reports also recommend workflows that could be turned into reusable skills, allowing organisations to replicate successful uses of AI across teams. Administrators can select a team, date range and products to include in a report.
But before employees assume their AI chats are becoming the next performance review, Anthropic has noted the feature is intended to help organisations understand AI adoption and plan investments, rather than monitor individual employee performance.
“Smart reports help admins understand adoption and inform investment planning, but they aren’t for evaluating individual performance or making employment decisions,” the company added.
The announcement does not clarify whether administrators can directly access individual employees’ conversations or are limited to the insights generated by the reports.
Anthropic has also introduced in-app surveys asking employees about the most valuable work they have completed using Claude, how the chatbot has affected the time taken to complete tasks, and which uses of AI their colleagues should replicate.
Additionally, the company has also rolled out pooled group budgets, allowing teams to share a monthly spending limit while retaining individual usage limits.
