Meta One: Meta bundles more AI access with paid features across its apps

Meta is bringing together its paid offerings for Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Meta AI under a new subscription service called Meta One. The company says it is launching with more than 50 features, with separate plans for individuals, AI power users, creators and businesses.

The announcement does not mean Meta is putting its core apps behind a paywall. The company says Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Meta AI will continue to be available for free. The paid plans are meant to offer more customisation, professional tools and expanded access to some of its more compute-intensive AI features.

Here is what Meta One offers, how the plans differ and what subscribers can expect.

What is Meta One?

Meta One is a subscription service that bundles features across Meta’s family of apps. It brings together existing single-product plans, such as Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus and WhatsApp Plus, with new bundles that include additional AI usage.

Meta says it is launching with more than 50 features across Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Meta AI. It plans to expand the service to Edits, its video-editing app, AI glasses and other experiences over time.

The plans are divided into two broad categories: those for individuals and AI power users, and those for creators and businesses.

What do individual subscribers get?

Meta’s individual offerings include single-app subscriptions as well as two bundles: Core and Premium.

The single-product plans focus on customisation and additional features within each app.

Instagram Plus — $3.99 a month: Includes custom DM and Story fonts, notifications when certain people view your Story, and DM previews.

WhatsApp Plus — $2.99 a month: Offers exclusive themes and icons, special-effect stickers and the ability to pin more chats. Meta says it will soon test chat and media backup storage and Focus Schedules, which can mute or hide chats on a schedule.

Facebook Plus — $3.99 a month: Includes custom app icons, super hearts, more Reels insights and additional customisation options for Messenger.

These plans are aimed at people who want more ways to personalise their experience or connect with others. They do not replace the free versions of the apps.

What are Core and Premium?

The Core and Premium bundles combine the features of the individual app plans with expanded access to certain AI capabilities.

The main difference between the two is the amount of AI usage available. Meta says Core and Premium are meant for people who want more creative freedom from its AI tools, rather than just everyday access to Meta AI.

The company says more than half of subscribers in early testing engaged with both AI and expression features in its bundled plans. It also says features such as Instagram Restyle and voice effects were among the top reasons people subscribed.

Meta has not provided a detailed usage allowance for each plan in the announcement. The exact benefits may also vary by region, app and account.

What does Meta One offer creators and businesses?

The creator and business plans are built around a different need: helping users build an audience, manage their presence and turn engagement into business activity.

Meta says these plans will offer tools directly within the apps where creators and businesses already operate, rather than requiring them to set up a separate account or download another app.

The features include:

  • Enhanced profiles that can showcase a website, business locations and customer feedback.
  • A more prominent follow button on Reels.
  • Automatic follow invitations to people who engage with content.
  • More access to Meta Business Agent on WhatsApp, allowing businesses to respond to customers around the clock.
  • Verification and impersonation protection under the Essential plan, subject to successful verification.
Meta also says it plans to add more AI agent skills for marketing, business operations, content creation and optimisation.

The Essential plan is positioned as an entry-level option for creators and small businesses, while Advanced and the higher tiers add tools for publishing, analytics, team management and customer communication.

The prices for Expert and Max are listed as starting prices. Meta says pricing and availability may vary by region and account.

What happens to Meta AI’s free experience?

Meta says everyday use of Meta AI will remain free. The paid plans are intended to offer more usage of some of its more compute-intensive capabilities, including image creation, image editing and video generation powered by its Muse models.

The company also points to in-app AI features such as Restyle on Instagram, which allows users to transform images and videos.

What is coming next?

Meta says it plans to expand Meta One to Edits, AI glasses and other experiences.

One of the upcoming additions is Edits Plus, which will offer more cloud storage so users can sync and access projects across devices. It will also include additional usage of an upcoming Edits assistant, which Meta says will help users analyse Instagram insights and brainstorm ideas.

The company has not provided a specific launch date for Edits Plus in the announcement.
