India can lead AI adoption across the Global South: BCG’s Saibal Chakroborty

India is poised to become the AI benchmark for the Global South, said Saibal Chakroborty, India Lead for Technology and Digital Advantage at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), in a conversation with ET on the sidelines of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. According to him, India is already ahead among Global South nations in digital infrastructure, AI adoption, and scalable innovation. According to Chakroborty, India can take the lead in building AI capabilities, talent ecosystems, and responsible frameworks to empower emerging economies and shape the future of inclusive artificial intelligence globally.
