IIIT-Bangalore, Taipei Computer Association sign LOI to explore technology collaboration

Bengaluru: The International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIIT-Bangalore) and Taipei Computer Association (TCA) have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to explore cooperation between Taiwan and Karnataka in technology, innovation and the digital economy.

The two organisations plan to work towards a Memorandum of Understanding covering information and communication technology, the digital economy, science and technology, and innovation. The LOI was signed at Electronica India 2026 in Bengaluru, said the IIIT-B in a press release.

The proposed areas of cooperation include artificial intelligence, electronics, smart manufacturing, smart cities and cybersecurity. The organisations will also explore knowledge sharing, policy discussions, business matchmaking, seminars, conferences and delegation exchanges, said the statement.

The LOI is intended to provide a framework for future joint activities between the two organisations and discussions on a formal MoU.

Debabrata Das, director, IIIT-Bangalore, said that the partnership could help connect IIIT-Bangalore's research capabilities with Taiwanese companies in hardware manufacturing and semiconductors.

“Bengaluru is India’s preeminent tech engine, offering exceptional software engineering talent and robust research capabilities,” Hsin-Lun Tsai, manager, TCA said. “By combining IIIT-B’s cutting-edge academic innovation with Taiwan’s established hardware manufacturing and semiconductor leadership, we aim to create tangible, synergistic value for our member enterprises.”
