IBM, Yotta launch sovereign agentic AI platform for Indian enterprises

IBM and Yotta Data Services have launched a sovereign agentic AI platform for Indian enterprises, as companies look to deploy AI agents without giving up control over their data and operations, the companies announced on Tuesday.

The platform is said to combine IBM’s watsonx Orchestrate with Yotta’s Shakti Cloud and Shakti Studio. It is designed to let organisations deploy, run and govern AI agents at scale while keeping data, AI inference and governance controls within India.

IBM’s watsonx Orchestrate acts as the control layer for managing and securing AI agents across the enterprise. Yotta’s Shakti Cloud provides the underlying compute, GPU infrastructure, networking and security, while Shakti Studio allows companies to develop, fine-tune and deploy both open-source and proprietary AI models.


The companies said the platform is aimed at helping enterprises move beyond AI pilots and into production, particularly for use cases such as security operations, document processing and HR automation.

“Digital sovereignty and open-source models are becoming a defining requirement for organisations as they scale AI from pilots to production,” said Sandip Patel, managing director, IBM India and South Asia. He added that the partnership would help organisations deploy AI agents with data, inference and governance controls anchored in India.

Yotta co-founder, MD and CEO Sunil Gupta said the platform brings together sovereign AI infrastructure, models and inference with enterprise agentic AI, governance and compliance capabilities.

The platform is available through Yotta’s cloud regions in Panvel and Greater Noida and can be used for workflows including security operations, document processing and HR automation.
