CtrlS, Ciena partner to build high-speed data centre networks across 5 Indian cities

CtrlS Datacenters on Monday announced that it is working with US-based networking company Ciena to build five metro networks connecting nine of its data centres across Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, New Delhi and Noida, as demand for bandwidth from artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud services grows.

The networks will offer up to 100 Tb/s of capacity, CtrlS said in a statement. The project is part of a larger managed optical fibre network deployment for a leading hyperscaler.

The company said the network upgrade will support connectivity between its data centres and cater to increasing demand from enterprises and hyperscalers for data centre interconnect services.

CtrlS is deploying Ciena’s WaveLogic 5 Extreme-powered Waveserver platform and 6500 Reconfigurable Line System (RLS) for the network. Ciena’s services team will handle end-to-end project management.

The network will also use Ciena’s Navigator Network Control Suite to automate network operations and speed up service delivery, the companies said.

The expansion comes as data centre operators in India ramp up infrastructure to support rising cloud adoption and AI workloads, which require higher-speed connections between data centres.
