“Xiaomi reserves the right to take legal action against false accusations of its non-compliance with Government orders.”
NEW DELHI: Smartphone brand Xiaomi, on Friday said that it is fully compliant with government’s orders since the banned mobile applications cannot be accessed on its devices and reserves the right of legal action against false accusations against the company.

“We have also noticed some stray instances of misinformation being spread regarding the above points,” Xiaomi India MD Manu Kumar Jain said in a statement.

“Xiaomi reserves the right to take legal action against false accusations of its non-compliance with Government orders.”


He was referring to the recent ban of two of Xiaomi’s appsMi Browser Pro’ and ‘Mi Community’.

“We are building a new version of MIUI which will be built without pre-installation of any of the banned apps. This will be rolling out in a phased manner over the next few weeks,” he said.

The company also clarified that it has its own Cleaner app which is separate from the Clean Master app banned by the government. Xiaomi said it is removing the industry definitions (also used by Clean Master app) which are vital for functioning of its cleaner app. The new version of the Cleaner app can be updated by users.

The brand also said that it is adherent to data security norms of the Indian law.

“Since 2018, 100% data from Indian users is stored on servers located in India and none of this data is shared with anyone outside of India.”
