New Delhi: As the Manohar Lal led BJP-JJP government battles farmer fury and rifts in Haryana, Congress unit president Kumari Selja on Thursday claimed many MLAs of the ruling coalition were in touch with her party. “There will not be a vacuum” in the state as the Congress will “make use of all constitutional methods” to ensure “a better alternative” in the state.

“Many MLAs of the ruling side, including some independent legislators, are now very upset and angry over the Centre’s handling of the farmers’ agitation and the Haryana state government. These MLAs have now seen the real face of BJP, they are in touch with us and are expressing anger and frustration, especially about the insensitive attitude of the Haryana government towards agitating farmers,” Selja said. When asked whether Congress would try to form an alternate government in the state, she said: “There will not be a vacuum. We will use all constitutional methods to ensure that.”

Her comments, on the eve of the Congress’ nationwide Raj Bhavan gherao against the farm laws, coincide with agitating farmers’ rejecting the SC formula to defuse the situation and deciding to carry ahead with agitation. Leader of the opposition BS Hooda had demanded a special session of the state assembly.
