Delhi and neighbouring areas woke up Wednesday morning to an earthquake measuring 4.0 on the richter scale. Lasting a few seconds, the earthquake is reported to have originated 44 km southwest of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh.
The depth of the earthquake was mapped at 10 km.
Mild tremors are believed to have been felt in cities like Meerut as well.
According to United States Geological Survey, an earthquake of 4.6 magnitude struck Tajikistan hours before the one felt in Delhi.
