Crude futures rise on firm global cues

Crude oil prices today jumped by over two per cent in futures trade as traders indulged in enlarging their positions influenced by a firming global trend.

NEW DELHI: Crude oil prices today jumped by over two per cent in futures trade as traders indulged in enlarging their positions influenced by a firming global trend.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for the April contract gained the most by rising 2.06 per cent to Rs 2,476 per barrel with a business turnover of 8,210 lots and May contract rose by 1.86 per cent to Rs 2,577 per barrel, clocking 571 lots.

Marketmen attributed the rise in crude oil prices to a firming global trend.

In New York, crude for delivery in May rose 47 cents to 48.86 dollar a barrel.
