Pune: Lakshya Digital, a game art outsourcing firm acquired by Keywords in 2014, plans to increase headcount by 15% over the next one year. Keywords is the largest game development service provider in the world.

Lakshya, set up in 2004, has seen an up to 20% surge in business over the last few months, it said.

The company currently has 500 employees and offices in Pune and Gurugram. It develops game art for several global companies like Disney, Sony, Warner Brothers and Bandai Namco.

“Lakshya Digital has gained new business due to its seamless migration to WFH (Work-from-Home) production environment, leading to an increase in client confidence in our ability to deliver despite difficult circumstances. This demand has created new opportunities for careers in the gaming sector and we are expecting to add about 12-15% people currently to meet demand,” said Manvendra Shukul, CEO of Lakshya Digital.

With more people turning to gaming amid the lockdown induced by the Covid-19 pandemic, the demand for content has also been increasing.

The company said the pandemic had proven to be a catalyst for India becoming a bigger hub for outsourcing, with many international game developers and publishers looking to move work here.
