Bengaluru airport handles record volumes of cargo in December

This is the highest amount of cargo ever processed at the Bengaluru international airport for December since airport operations commenced in 2008, the Bangalore International Airport (BIAL) said in a press release.

Bengaluru: The Kempegowda international airport in Bengaluru processed 33,053 metric tonnes (MT) of cargo in December, improving on its previous cargo volumes.

This is the highest amount of cargo ever processed at the Bengaluru international airport for December since airport operations commenced in 2008, the Bangalore International Airport (BIAL) said in a press release.

The Bengaluru interntaional airport is the only airport in India to reach 100% of the previous year’s tonnage for four consecutive months on a year-on-year between September and December 2020.


International cargo grew at 7%, with a throughput of 20,288 MT in December 2020, the highest in the last 21 months, the press release said.
