New Delhi: Vodafone Idea chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla said that the two companies have created history by completing the world’s largest integration in the telecom sector between two mammoth operators Vodafone India and Idea Cellular in less than two years.



“The merger a couple of years back meant to start a journey of integrating two mammoth networks and companies into one seamless entity. The world had never ever seen a merger and integration of this size and scale in the telecom sector,” Birla said while unveiling the new brand Vi.


“The Vodafone Idea team and its leadership….in the process created history by accomplishing the telecom world’s largest integration in less than two years.”

He added that the rationale for the joint venture Vodafone Idea, which was more than just creating a larger business remains unchanged,and is committed to creating a leading future fit telecom player with scale.

“The new brand identity is a reflection of the two brands Vodafone and Idea coming together for the future which reflects the company Vodafone Idea limited being agile, strong and dynamic and in tune with the ever changing needs of the customers. It is created to help customers look forward, stay ahead, thrive and build a better tomorrow. Dynamic, vibrant and colourful the new brand is designed for the digital era,” Birla said.

He said that the company’s ubiquitous wireless network in India is unmatched for its reach and impact in people’s lives.
