NEW DELHI: Vodafone Group CEO Nick Read said that it is a time for a fresh start as Vodafone India and Idea Cellular complete the integration of the two entities and rebrand the unified company as Vi.

“As the integration of two businesses is now complete, it’s time for a fresh start. That's why we believe that now is the perfect time to launch Vi, one company which provides the strength of Vodafone India and Idea,” Read said on Monday at the launch of Vi.

He added that with the integration of its 2G, 3G and 4G network, the unified brand is committed to provide a superior network experience, better customer services and leading products and services. citizens and businesses in India.



Marred by price war unleashed in the India telecom sector back in 2016 with the entry of Reliance Jio, both Vodafone India and Idea Cellular who were suffering losses announced closed their merger in August 2018. The company on Monday announced the complete integration of the two businesses into a unified brand Vi.

“Back in 2018, the combination of Vodafone India and Idea created the new champion for the government’s vision of ‘Digital India’ committed to bring world class products and services to villages, towns and cities across the country,” Read said.
