All you need to know about Apple's new online store in India
Just in time
On September 23, Apple Inc is set to launch its first online store in India. The store opens just as the festive season is set to bring in some of the biggest sales for retailers. CEO Tim Cook recently tweeted "We know how important it is for our customers to stay in touch with those they love and the world around them. We can’t wait to connect with our customers and expand support in India with the Apple Store online on September 23".
Personalise your Apple
The store has opened just in time for the festive season, and for that the store is now offering signature gift wrap as well as personalised engraving on select products, be it of emoji or text in English, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu.
Market of billions
India is a major market for smartphone makers, as it offers more than a billion wireless subscribers as well as cheap labour for manufacturing. Apple also has been operating in India for more than 20 years and has created almost 900,000 jobs across the country, according to the company's website.
Apple has been selling its products through third-party vendors like Amazon and Flipkart. While operating the Apple Store, the company has decided to ship all orders with contactless delivery and that a signature will not be required when the package reaches the customer's door, just a verbal confirmation from a safe distance.
Apple recently launched its virtual fitness service and Apple One, which consists of all the customer's subscriptions, and focuses on catering to its users who are working at home during the coronavirus pandemic.
