Rajeev Bairathi head capital market quits Knight Frank

Bengaluru: Veteran real estate man Rajeev Bairathi has quit Knight Frank India to strike out independently. Bairathi served as executive director & national head – capital markets for Knight Frank moved on to set up a start-up Shearwater Ventures Private, an advisory and incubation management firm.

The company is also in the process of applying for an NBFC license from the regulator and is expected to commence services by the fourth quarter of this calendar year.
“I felt that I must now do something different and more exciting and so have founded Shearwater Ventures, a startup investment advisory and incubation management firm. The firm is funded by a couple of family offices as its investors,” said Bairathi

Bairathi successfully established the practice at Knight Frank and spent more than 20 years with some of the top corporates– Reliance Industries, Airtel, Bharti Walmart and Ernst & Young.

“Shearwater Finance would provide collateralized credit capital to micro, small and medium sector enterprises in the country,” said Bairathi.

Shearwater founding team has successfully delivered transactions valued at ~ $3 bn on a cumulative basis across transactions including M&A, private equity placement, structured equity and debt.

The team has experience of providing strategic advisory to a vast number of institutional investors, real estate developers and corporates thereby assisting in the cumulative investment of $ 5 bn in India across both real estate & non-real estate segments.

Shearwater Ventures aims at providing customized liquidity solutions to its clients. Shearwater would focus on delivering transaction advisory services and provide credit capital solution and seed funding to its clients and partners.

Shearwater Incubation Partners would provide seed equity capital along with critical management and domain inputs/mentorship to start-up firms focussing on innovative business models and technology applications in real estate sector.
